Dr. Robert Byers Memorial

- Best Event

The Byers Trophy is awarded in recognition of the best event of the year.

How the trophy is awarded:
The winner is determined by the contestant's evaluations of the events. Each contestant rates the event on a scale and the member's scores are averaged to determine the winner of the Byers Trophy.

About the trophy:
Dr. Robert C. Byers, known to friends as "Jack," joined Nebraska Region in 1958. He lost his life in a one-car crash on Friday, June 22, 1962.

A long time enthusiast and former winner of the Golden Rod Rally, Dr. Byers had withdrawn from sports car activity upon the death of his wife, Annibal, almost exactly one year before his own death.

Although the Byers Trophy is one of the smallest of the traveling trophies, the detail on it is magnificent and no photograph can do it justice.
